Your birth and mine may have meant the world to out mothers but they added little more to the world itself than digits on its population figure. The birth of the Messenger of Allah was a vital event. His birth was not just a case of the world having to feed one more mouth, one more to provide for, one more consumer. It was a gift to all peoples and all nations, to the rich as well as the poor, to the old as well as the young, to black and white, man and woman, to you and I. As it was the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) who would create the Empire of Allah on Earth, who would restore peace and harmony, justice and equality, who would open the eyes of mankind to reality of this world and the reality of the hereafter that were far beyond anything presented to them by the sum of their intellectuals and greatest thinkers.
He came not to take from the world but to give to it. He came with charity and kindness not greed and misery. He came with warmth and compassion not hate and malice. He came with modesty and chastity not immorality and shamelessness. He was humble, not proud; modest, not vain; considerate rather than selfish. Honesty and integrity has filter through his being, even his archenemies paid tribute to him. He was a humble, quiet, thoughtful man. He spoke with wisdom, expressiveness and complete clarity. He was unfrivilous, yet in his simplicity commanded the deepest respect. Intimidated by the spiritual motivating force that he was, many of his companions avoided direct eye contact with him, preferring to lower their heads and cherish the moment the hand of fortune had dealt them.
On Monday the12th of Rabi ul Awwal 11 AH, with the words,
“(I seek no one) but the most elevated companion,”
He departed from this world. His companions were distraught but the encouraged Abu Bakr shook them from their state of shock. His memorable words as he delivered the sermon on the Prophet’s pulpit are as uplifting and inspirational today as they were all those years ago:
“Those who worshipped Muhammad, then Muhammad is dead and those who worshipped Allah, verily He is alive, death does not overtake Him.”
We should be enlightened by these words. As Muslims, on this month and indeed at every moment in our lives we have much to celebrate: a perfectly comprehensive religion, a Prophet (P.B.U.H) who accomplished every respect, a Holy Book of guidance; The Hole Quran, unique in content and explosive in style, a complete way of life that guarantees gratification in this world and eternal peace in the hereafter, the list is endless.
Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) is the Symbol of Islam and it is not possible to mention Islam without mentioning the name and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H). Allah has blessed mankind, by sending His Habib Alaihi Salam towards the humanity as He declared in Quran:
“Allah did confer a great favor on the believers when He sent among them a Apostle from among themselves, rehearsing unto them the signs of Allah, sanctifying them, and instructing them in scripture and wisdom, While before that, they had been in manifest error.” (Al-Quran: Surah Ale-Imran, verse-164)
Nowhere in the Holy Quran or in Hadiths has it been mentioned that observing Milad-un-Nabi (P.B.U.H) on any day especially on twelve Rabi ul-Awwal is against Islam.
Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) is an essential link between Allah and Mankind and Love of the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) is an essential part of one’s faith. Thus, Allah instructs Muslims to follow Muhammad (P.B.U.H) in the Quran and tells His messenger to announce the condition to love Allah.
“Say: O, people! if you do love Allah, follow me , Allah will love you and forgive your sins” (Surah Ale-Imran, Verse 31).
